Hello and welcome to the blog about Frances Langford, 1913-2005. Feel free to post any comments, stories, opinions about Frances.
Why a blog on Frances Langford? In May of 06 I discovered Frances on a CD my wife had purchased because she likes the old songs. I had heard of Frances Langford but remembered her only as a comedienne on a comedy show she did in the late 40's early 50's with DOn Ameche called 'The Bickersons' Brilliant comedy but I had no idea she was a singer. Boy did I find out in a hurry! Frances had the voice of an angel with truly unique interpretations of the popular songs of the 30's 40's and 50's. She also starred in over 30 movies, some available on DVD.
In tribute to Frances I have started a time-travel romance trilogy of novels. The first one, 'Will I Ever Know' was published in June of 08 by Outskirts Press and is available on Amazon.com. The sequel, 'Lost in the Spell' is finished and will be out, hopefully in January of 2010. The third and final novel in the trilogy, 'No Matter how Impossible' will be started soon. The story centers on Chad Henson, a 34 year old unemployed divorcee who discovers Frances on a CD left behind by his ex-wife. He becomes obsessed with Frances collecting photos, movies, old radio shows, anything connected with Frances. He longs to meet her but how? She died in 2005 and if alive, she'd be in her 90's. TIme travel. Oh if that were possible! One day scouring the want-ads he see's an ad placed by a professor looking for someone to help him with his work on a time machine. Joke? Prank? What does Chad have to lose? He applies and gets the job! One day while alone in the time machine room, he sends himself back to 1945 and lands on the set of 'The Bamboo Blond' the movie Frances was working on at the time. THus begins the strange story of Frances Langford and Chad Henson. More later...
